RBN Data Russian DX Contest 2018 40m M0BEW.

RBN Data Russian DX Contest 2018 40m M0BEW.

Always enjoy the RDXC, plenty of activity and a good warm up pre WPX.
Thought I would try and have a couple of hours. Make a few qsos. CW  only.
Jumped on 40m.  Band felt really bad. A-Index was 20ish.
I'm not fully up to what feels good or bad here at the moment, but neveless it felt awfull.
QRV during some poor hours, between 22:30 - 01:30.

Came across 3B8XF, very loud with not much of a pileup, not that I could hear this end.
Band seemed extremely selective and fast changing.

RBN reports.
Not really any serious UK activity on around the time I was on.
Unless I'm mistaken. So I grabbed whatever the highest claimed SOSB40 scores from 3830...
YT1HA, S52AW, ES2MC, HA3LN, OH2PM, HG8K.
A case of comparing an apple to an orange but still some yardstick around Europe.

Another flurry in 80m club champs. Nothing too serious.
80m Dipole at a more respectable height now.

USB interface went down around 10-15 mins in ...  No PTT so no voice keyer.
Despite trying a reconnect, restart, reboot it failied. Next day, boot up and it connects as normal. Very fustrating.
Logged the rest straight into my logger.
Band was busy. worked a few DL, S5, LZ giving low serials.

RBN Data RSGB 80m Club Champs March CW 2018

RBN Data RSGB 80m Club Champs March CW 2018.

The new QTH move has happened. 'cheer'.
This is pretty much the first time had chance to radiate a signal, so just for a quicky test, erected a flat top dipole at 20 feet, just 10m or so from the shack.

The 80m CC's are a perfect opportunity to mix a signal on the band omongst the other entrants and get a feel for antenna performace. As always there's plenty of activity up and down the UK, and good mix of fairly decent systems to compare against.

Ran with 100 watts and TS480.

Overall really pleased.
The system cant get any simpler really. With a height of only 20 feet the ground losses must be huge, so only improvmemnts can be expected.

This clip is monitoring the top two serial stations at the time. G4PIQ, MW5R.
Very quiet period right at the end of the contest where the qsos are few.

Can hear the run breaks to grab new S&P qsos etc. This would have been a much more interesting recording if caught in the first hour rather than the last. Heyho.
