UBA DX Contest, SSB Call: M0BEW Operator(s): M0BEW Station: M0BEW Class: SO20 QTH: ENGLAND Operating Time (hrs): 10 Summary: Band QSOs Mults ------------------- 80: 0 0 40: 0 0 20: 408 23 15: 0 0 10: 0 0 ------------------- Total: 408 23 Total Score = 16,882 Comments. The high K index really messed things up. The openenings around EU were very selective. Hardly any short hop propagation to ON from here. Only got called by 1 ON the others had to found and even then they were very weak and quite tough to complete a qso with. Only worked/heard 4 all contest, as 50+ of the available mults come from Belgium the chances of scoring were almost impossible this weekend. Called it a day at around 19:00, came back 08:00 next morning and carried on. Made quater of my qso total in the first hour. Highlights were being called by SU1ER and ST2NH. Although for this contest they counted as minimum points and no mult! Tim-M0BEW.

Great scores again I see.
Managed a few hours at high power. Got a knock about 16:00 and had to drop to a couple of hundred to keep them happy. I left the DVK calling while I was talking at the front door, so if you called I'm sorry. Same setup as last week except I tried a reflector this time, very simple affiar at about shoulder hieght. Did it make any difference? Who knows, didn't feel like it. My first hour was still appauling. Seems like my signal still wasn't loud enough to be heard at the start. I was working folks over on the other vfo with serials 25-35 higher just under an hour into the contest, while I was cq'ing to fresh air on my run freq 25k below them. Really wierd stuff. Quite a few dupes, but thats how it goes. I work and log em all. Thanks everyone that called. Tim-M0BEW.

1 x 1000MP - 100w Dipole @ 55ft with ends out @ 30ft. Writelog. 220 q's with 11 dupes - 209 valid. 1st hour - 71 2nd hour - 70 3rd hour - 35 4th hour - 35 Good contest, lots of activity, band was rammed and a joy to hear. Heard some superb scores during the contest, and some great scores posted so far. Don't know what happened here, I can't explain it. Could not get anyone to hear me it appears. Must try harder in the signal department. Ran for 3 hours 30mins, S&Ped for 30mins. Looking back through the log only 30% ! of the qsos came from cq'ing. The rest were made through the 2nd vfo and during the S&P. If I appeared to not quite inside your filter when I called I'm sorry :) Made 1 dupe myself, BWP I think it was. The others from callers. Thanks to all who called, I made a few neat audio clips which should make it up on the my website in a week or two when all is finished. See you all in SBB with a stronger signal I hope. I'll perhaps try a reflector underneath. Any comments/experiences from doing this are welcome. Tim-M0BEW.

Call: M0BEW Operator(s): M0BEW Station: M0BEW Class: SO LP QTH: BIRMINGHAM Operating Time (hrs): 12 Summary: Band QSOs ------------ 80: 0 40: 0 20: 401 15: 119 10: 3 ------------ Total: 523 State/Prov = 43 Countries = 54 Total Score = 50,496 Comments. First contest of 2003, and first chance I've had to try Writelog for any length of time on a new WinXP machine. The latest MMTTY version seemed 200% better rx-wise, I can only think of a few signals I had to let go because of flutter or low signal. Dunno what he's changed but it works. Thanks everyone who called and said Hi. Tim-M0BEW.
